Our Young Hollywood Series for the Dec 2022 kicks off with our chosen covergirl Natasha Calls recently wrapped on NBC/Global TV medical ensemble drama “Nurses” where she played series lead ‘Ashley Collins,’ Natasha returns to the small screen with the new CBS/Paramount+ drama series “SkyMed”.

Natasha stars as flight nurse ‘Haley Roberts’ who’s new to the team, but with heart and smarts, proves herself to be a fighter. The series weaves compelling stories around a diverse ensemble of young First Responders in the remote North at 20,000 feet.

Before you even turned 18 years old you already made a mark in tv as well as films.

What has been the key to your successes?

I think the key is my passion for acting; that has always been the driving factor. I started acting at a very young age and for no other reason than because I love it. And because I love it so much, I've always had a really good work ethic which is so important in this industry.

Being originally from Canada , what is the best thing about your hometown that you often miss?

Whenever I'm away filming, I always miss the beauty of Vancouver. Being born and raised there, I might be slightly biased, but I truly believe it's one of the most beautiful places in the world. The simplicity of everyday life there is so wonderful and I will often miss being surrounded by the ocean and mountains. I love hiking and being outside and I feel like Vancouver is the perfect marriage of nature and city.

How would you describe your personal style? What's something in your closet you couldn't live without?

I think my style is a mix of a lot of things. It all depends on the day. I would say generally my style is a mix of street sporty and vintage. I like to be as comfortable as possible with clothes that I also feel are trendy and stylish. I couldn't live without leggings! I work out every day and love to do yoga, so leggingsare definitely a staple in my everyday wardrobe.

What projects do you have lined up that we should know about?

My new show SkyMed dropped in July which I'm really excited about. It's on CBC in Canada and Paramount+ elsewhere. It's a really fun and cinematically beautiful show packed with action and adventure that will take audiences on a ride.

Can you describe your character on SkyMed. What are some similarities about you personally and some of the characters you've played in the past?

I play Hayley Roberts who is new to the SkyMed team. She was a labor and delivery nurse in Toronto and signed up for SkyMed in an attempt to run from some of the demons in her life. She's a strong and compassionate person and I think we have that in common. A lot of the time I'll put my problems in the back seat if someone in my life needs help and that's exactly how Hayley is too. I think she is the closest character to myself than anybody else I've played.

Who and or what inspires you in life?

“My parents inspire me immensely.”

I started acting at such a young age so they had to sacrifice a lot in order to support my passion. My mom had to quit her job because I was so busy and even actually ended up moving to Toronto with me for a whole year when I was twelve while I filmed "The Firm," and my dad stayed at home in Vancouver to work. They did everything to support me all without ever overstepping or being "stage parents." They taught me professionalism, the importance of a good work ethic, and always said to me "If at any point this stops being fun, you don't have to do it anymore." I wouldn't be where I am today or be the person I am without them and I am incredibly grateful and will forever be inspired by them.

Where do you see your life in 10 years?

In 10 years, I hope to feel fulfilled and successful in my career, I hope to have a family, and to be in a house on a nice property with dogs running around and a big garden.

Since we are in the holiday season, What is your favorite holiday song?

“Oh good question. I'm the type of person who starts listening to Christmas music in November lol. My favorite song is probably either "All I want for Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey or "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" by Bruce Springsteen.”

Are you a better gift giver or receiver? Any last notes you'd like to add?

Definitely a better gift giver! I absolutely love giving gifts, it brings me so much joy especially when I know it's the perfect gift for someone.
