The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced today that two-time Emmy® Nominee, Actor, Producer, and Director Michael Urie will host the International Emmy® Awards, on Monday, November 23, 2026, in New York City.
Urie stars in Apple TV’s award-winning comedy Shrinking, earning two consecutive Emmy® nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series and winning the 2025 Critics Choice Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. He first rose to prominence as the beloved Marc St. James on ABC’s hit series Ugly Betty. His extensive television and film credits include series Partners, Younger, The Good Wife, Modern Family, Elsbeth, and Krapopolis, and films Single All The Way, Maestro, and Goodrich. Urie is an equally accomplished stage performer including critically acclaimed performances in shows such as Richard II, Oh, Mary!, Once Upon a Mattress, Spamalot, and Buyer & Cellar.
"If the International Emmy® Awards are the United Nations of television, then for one night, I’m basically host of the world! Thankfully, all I have to do is hand out statues, not maintain international peace and security,” Urie stated. “It’s an honor to be hosting the International Emmys and to celebrate the television professionals from around the globe who help bring all of us together while showing us who we are.”
Beyond performing, Urie co-founded Pride Plays, an annual festival championing LGBTQIA+ voices in theatre. He has hosted Discovery+’s Clipped and four seasons of Logo’s Cocktails & Classics. His directing credits include the film He’s Way More Famous Than You, the short The Hyperglot, and the documentary Thank You For Judging, as well as stage productions Bright Colors and Bold Patterns and Silver Foxes.
The International Emmy® Awards Gala, chaired this year by Sean Cohan, and International Emmy® World Television Festival will welcome over 1,000 international media and entertainment executives to New York. In addition to the presentation of Emmy® Awards for programming, the Academy will present two Special Awards: the International Emmy® Directorate Award to Gerhard Zeiler and the Founders Award to Bela Bajaria.
