ERASERHEADS: COMBO ON THE RUN provides a deep dive into this super-group as they navigate the highs and the lows of being a very successful band dealing with long time friendships, family relationships, creativity, music and art, and mental health spanning three decades.

Charting the Eraserheads’ journey from their humble beginnings as college students at University of the Philippines Diliman in 1989, in the creative afterglow of the EDSA People Power Revolution, the film captures their meteoric rise in the 1990s, when their raw lyrics and fearless originality redefined Filipino music and resonated deeply with the country’s youth. Their success, often likened to the Beatles’ impact on Western music, was marked by near-annual album releases, international recognition, and songs that became the soundtrack of a generation.

Through candid band interviews, key collaborators’ reflections, and electrifying archival footage, the documentary revisits their dissolution, the bittersweet sting of their breakup, and the power of nostalgia for fans who grew up after their peak. Yet it also finds renewal in their triumphant 2022 “Huling El Bimbo” reunion concert, where 75,000 fans bore witness to reconciliation and rebirth in a very politically polarized landscape.

More than a chronicle of a legendary band, director Maria Diane Ventura has crafted a moving testament to friendship, forgiveness, and the universal power of music to heal both artists and audiences alike, peppered with iconic needle drops that will fill the hearts and souls of E-Heads, both young and old.

Director Ventura states: “Ultimately, the story is not just about a band, but about a deep connection; about finding ways back to each other; and about the possibility of healing, especially in a time when the world feels increasingly divided.”

She adds: “Beyond tracing the history and impact of the Eraserheads to Pinoy pop culture, ERASERHEADS: COMBO ON THE RUN also examines themes of friendship, conflict, identity, and reconciliation. It offers a tale of humanity that resonates across cultures and generations. This global release as incredibly humbling and emphasizes the need to share the Eraserheads’ legacy and its distinctly Filipino story with international audiences. It has been most meaningful hearing how audiences connect to it on a personal level, the sense of healing, and the pride in being Filipino. To now bring that to a global audience feels like an extension of that -  an opportunity to share who we are, our music, our stories, and our spirit, with the rest of the world.”
