'7 Ways To Unblock Your Pores'

We have millions of tiny pores across our skin. These pores let out sweat to keep us cool and oils to keep our skin moisturised. However, these pores can get blocked with dead skin cells, dirt, makeup and other substances.

Cleaning your face with hot water is one obvious way to unblock your pores, however this is not always enough. Below are just a few other measures you can take to unclog your pores.

Stop squeezing those pimples

When many of us have a prominent blackhead or a zit, the temptation is often to get rid of it by squeezing it out. But this can often do more harm than good. Not only can it make the area inflamed, but you can often end up introducing more dirt and skin cells to your pores as you’re touching your face. This is often why new pimples spring up around other pimples that you’ve already squeezed. Resist popping those pimples if you can.

Take a break from makeup

Some people apply make-up everyday to cover up blackheads and pimples. However, what most people don’t realise is that daily application of makeup can often be one of the biggest causes. Cosmetic products like foundation, primers and concealers often end up clogging up pores. Use them less frequently to reduce breakouts of spots.

Use home exfoliant products

Exfoliating is the process of removing dead skin cells from your body. Given that these dead skin cells are often the source of blocked pores, it is one of the best ways to keep your pores clear. Exfoliating face scrubs are some of the best products that you can use. You can also use skin peel products.

Consider products with salicylic acid

Our skin has a natural exfoliation mechanism that can be sped up by using products containing salicylic acid. Look out for ingredients like white willow and wintergreen leaf in face scrubs and serums. These natural ingredients contain salicylic acid.

Try pore strips on your nose

Pore strips are adhesive strips that are designed to unclog your pores. They harden after several minutes, binding to your skins, after which point you can pull them away, removing dead skin cells from your pores. Pore strips are most commonly used on the nose, however you can use them on other areas of the body. Pore mask peels are an alternative option.

Get a facial

A facial is a form of professional cosmetic treatment that involves applying steam and various products to the face to exfoliate and smooth out the skin. It may also involve giving the face a massage. Compare different spas and clinics in your area to find the best facials

Give microdermabrasion a go

Microdermabrasion uses fine crystals to remove outer layers of skin. It can be more effective at unclogging pores than using general exfoliation products and can also help reduce wrinkles, age spots and old scars. This is a treatment typically carried out at a clinic by a trained professional. Look for places that carry out this procedure in your area.
