How does your character's style reflect their personality and journey in Zatima? Are there any pieces or looks that stand out to you this season?

Angela is definitely a fashion girly. She even makes it a point to mention everything she wears is designer while wearing a piece I actually designed in collaboration with Fashion To Figure in 2020. It was a bold red satin set that very much symbolizes her sexuality as well as desire for love which are constantly battling throughout the show but especially in this latest season.

Zatima has garnered a dedicated fanbase. How do you think the show resonates with contemporary issues faced by your audience?

We truly have the most incredible fan base!  They are so dedicated and it’s so much fun interacting with them. I think the show is most relatable because it shows both the male and female perspectives navigating adulthood, business, and love. Everyone has faced tough family loss or betrayal, new love, and changes in long-standing friendships. This season Zac is struggling with a family member who has an addiction which hit home for many of our viewers as well as our cast. There are so many experiences to connect with as well as relatable characters. I hope people can watch and gain a sense of clarity or simply know they aren’t alone.

What can viewers expect from your character this season? Are there any pivotal moments that highlight their growth?

This season people get to see Angela reconsider some of her previous assumptions about friends. She is finding it a little harder to ignore Belinda’s wrongdoings especially while she tries to ease Fatima’s stress during her pregnancy. Angela starts to soften up towards Zac after realizing he wants what’s best for her bestie. And she explores new avenues in her romantic life that may be a bit unexpected. There will be moments of growth mixed with moments of immaturity but that’s what makes these characters so relatable.

Can you share a memorable moment from filming that embodies the spirit of Zatima?

For me, Zatima is all about your chosen family. My favorite part of filming is always spending time with my cast mates. The group scenes are the heart of the show and this season we have a really intense finale that shows all of the character's support for Zac in a unique way. I can’t give away any spoilers but despite the scene being somber we were laughing hysterically behind the scenes as the improv was wildly unexpected. It was a reminder of how often even the most serious and sad moments can be eased with laughter. That’s the spirit of Zatima.

Working with Tyler Perry is a unique experience. How has his vision shaped your approach to your character and the story?

Working with Tyler Perry is such an incredible experience. He really trusts his actors and gives us a lot of freedom. Having that freedom is so crucial in building your esteem as an actor. It makes you take risks and live in the moment. There is such a drastic difference between Angela season 1 and season 3 because I learned to lean into trusting myself. I owe that so much to Mr. Perry.

The show masterfully blends drama with heartfelt moments. How do you prepare to navigate this emotional range?

I start by connecting with the depth of the scene and my characters journey. If I tap into similar experiences in my own life it allows me to portray the moment more authentically.

Do you see any parallels between your life and your character’s experiences? How does that influence your performance?

Angela has a tough exterior but is really a very delicate and emotional person. Many of the challenges she has faced in these past seasons have hit close to home. It can be very therapeutic to revisit these experiences in this space where I feel safe and to know someone else is experiencing this right now and watching this may help them feel seen and a sense of connection.

How do you engage with fans online, and how has their feedback impacted your view of the show?

I love engaging with the fan base. They are so creative and truly invested in the story! Although we often times disagree they definitely through out alternate endings or future predictions that either have me in complete shock or laughing hysterically. They have me stuck on Twitter for hours! Seeing the moments that they connect with definitely changes the way I see the show.

Who are your  style icons, and how do they influence your characters wardrobe in the series?

Some of my personal style icons include Zendaya and Kelly Rowland simply because they are always fabulous! My character’s wardrobe is a version of myself that works at an office every day. She still has to give some flash, razzle-dazzle, and sex appeal however she’s still at work so keep it professional. Reminds me of Fran Drescher from The Nanny. I was obsessed with her growing up.

As Zatima continues to evolve, what are your hopes for the future of your character and the overall storyline?

As Zatima evolves, I hope my character, Angela, continues to grow in unexpected ways, facing new challenges and discovering deeper aspects of their identity. I'd love to see her navigate relationships and personal growth that push her out of her comfort zone, especially in ways that reveal layers viewers might not expect. For the overall storyline, I hope it continues to resonate with fans and tackle relevant issues in a way that feels both entertaining and meaningful. There's so much potential for powerful storytelling, and I'm excited to see where the journey leads!
