Let Ouch Magazine readers in on the depth of your new series 'Stargirl’ on CW!
I play a super villain called Brainwave. He is telepathic and telekinetic, and can do all sorts of horrible things just by thinking about it.
How does it feel to play a villain?
I love it. It’s very liberating in a way to say and do things that are unacceptable in normal society. I also find these kinds of characters allow you to make riskier and more interesting choices as an actor.
Is this your first role on the bad side?
No. I’ve played almost exclusively “bad” guys for the past few years. I’m not sure why it’s worked out that way, my kids think I’m nice…
Where did you flip the series?
We filmed in Atlanta and I can’t wait to go back, I love that city.
Are you having to self-quarantine? How are you keeping your mind and body fit?
I travelled from New York where I live, back to Australia where I was born, and did two weeks quarantine in a hotel room, not much fun when you’re homeschooling two kids and can’t open the windows! But we made it, and now we’re in a part of Australia where thankfully things are relatively under control so we’re not having to quarantine. So I’ve been able to exercise pretty normally. I’m going for a surf this afternoon!
Do you know how to cook? If so what is your favorite dish?
I love to cook. I’m the head chef at home and cook every day. I find it relaxing, and it’s very much a part of my spiritual practice. Making food for the people I love, nourishing their bodies and minds, makes me happy. My daughter is vegetarian, so I’ve been cooking vegetarian for the past few years. I’m always on the lookout for new recipes to try, but a roast pumpkin risotto is always a hit.
How often do you use social media?
Not very much, I’m trying to embrace it more.
What your favorite social platform?
Instagram is the one I’m on most.
What's in your book and or music library?
It’s pretty eclectic. Music’s a big part of my life. I played in bands growing up and never travel without my guitar. I just finished reading “And the Ass saw the Angel” which is Nick Cave’s first novel. It’s brilliant and a complete trip.
What are you most excited about for this year 2020?
I’m excited to see the ways our creativity and humanity rise out of these trying times.

Be kind to yourself. Keep going. Follow the things you love, whatever they might be.
