What is a day like taping on-set  and  offset for ‘So You Think You Can Dance?’

It was wild! There were so many rehearsals, camera blocking, wardrobe fittings, and getting notes from everyone. There was so much materialto learn in such a short time that it felt like the Olympics of dance! You had to stay healthy to keep up with all of it. They gave us B12 shots at one point, and even gave someone IV fluids. It was so intense, but so fulfilling.

  How does one become a respected choreographer? 

It takes time. Do good work, keep a strong point of view, and see the good in others. Consistently connect, collaborate, and evolve. It’s really all about the attitude in pushing yourself through the growing pains.  

Was dance always your first choice as a career? At what age did you realize it? Yes, I was 16 when I realized I wanted to make dancing my career.   Name your top 5 inspirational songs to dance to? Off the top of my head I would say: “Dancing On My Own” by Robyn, “Get Up Offa That Thing” by James Brown, “I’m a Believer” by Smash Mouth, “Feel Good Inc.” by Gorillaz, and anything Remi Wolf.  

How has TikTok impacted your life? What do you love and or hate about it?

I love that it provides the opportunity to create content for myself, a brand, or products. Through TikTok, I was able to co-create a content house called PrideHouseLA! It’s a safe space for the LGBTQIA community. The only thing I dislike is that it’s so numbers driven, but I guess that’s just part of the game.  

What is your healthy lifestyle routine?

It's important to have a good morning. Immediately after waking up, I stretch and reflect. Then I do a bit of mirror magic by looking into the mirror and thinking of positive things. It gives me the energy and attitude I need for a great day!     

What would you consider your signature dance move?

 While dance isn’t a magic trick, there’s definitely magic involved. I love anything hyper-pop and expressive that allows me to use my entire body. It adds the athletic ability with a bit of charm.  

What projects can readers watch out for in 2022?

I’m touring with Hollywood Vibe! Come dance or TikTok with me in the hallway when I’m in your city!
