Ones to Watch Tai Verdes & KennyHoopla @ Governors Ball 2023

ABOUT TAI VERDES:

Several months into the COVID-19 pandemic, Tai Verdes skyrocketed from his 9-to-5 job at a Verizon store, quickly rising to Billboard’s #1 Emerging Artist with his first-ever headline tour selling out in minutes. His debut album TV included several of the pandemic-era’s biggest viral hits in the US - “Stuck In The Middle” and “AOK” - earning him over a billion streams, #34 on the Billboard Hot 100, and a #12 record at US Pop Radio. Tai has since performed on Jimmy Kimmel and The TODAY Show, at festivals worldwide as well at Lollapalooza and Madison Square Garden in front of crowds of over 35,000 people, garnering praise from Rolling Stone, Billboard, MTV, NPR, and more. The Shazam 2022 Artist to Watch kicked off last year with his equally explosive single “lastdayonearth,” followed by an extended headline tour around his sophomore album HDTV, featuring hit tracks“how deep?”, “Let’s go to Hell”, and “sheluvme”. Lead single “how deep?” has ignited recent momentum for HDTV, with 35M+ streams to-date + consistent 75%+ lean-forward data. The 27-year-old may have won the TikTok lottery, but he’s playing the long game. And he’s playing for keeps. “I’m gonna be a problem. I love everything that’s happening. But this is not a one song thing, this is a 10-album thing. Time for everyone to see the world in HD.”

ABOUT KENNYHOOPLA

Much like color, sound consists of different shades, hues, and textures. Individuality results from the confluence of those elements. In broad and delicate strokes alike, KennyHoopla splashes sound onto tape akin to paint on a canvas. With no style off-limits, the Ohio-born and Wisconsin-based singer, songwriter, producer, and guitarist merges alternative, hip-hop, rock, indie, and pop in a melodic undertow. Upon graduating high school, he left home and moved to Madison, WI. He caught fire with “lost cause//” [feat. Jesse] in 2019, landing a deal with Mogul Vision Music/Arista Records. A year later, he served up the how will i rest in peace if i’m buried by a highway?// EP. The title track “how will i rest in peace if i’m buried by a highway?//” gathered over 55 million streams. 2021 saw him team up with the legendary Travis Barker for SURVIVORS GUILT: THE MIXTAPE// powered by the likes of “hollywood sucks//” and “estella//,” which reeled in north of 56 million streams. NME scored it “4-out-of-5” stars and asserted KennyHoopla’s “growing arsenal of anthems-in-waiting more than justifies his ascendance to the big leagues.” Between tours with MGK and YUNGBLUD, Rolling Stone championed him as an “Artist You Need To Know” and Forbes went as far as to crown him, “One of the most exciting new rock artists in years.” 2022 saw him drop DIRTY WHITE VANS produced by Barker. It piled up 11 million-plus streams and earned acclaim from the likes of OnesToWatch. Amassing over 250 million streams and inciting the applause of Rolling StoneThe FADERHYPEBEAST, and more, he shapes an often vibrant, sometimes visceral, and always vital sound with each creative move he makes in 2023 and beyond, beginning with the appropriately title “YOU NEEDED A HIT//” and more to come.
