SPIELBERG, a two-week, 20-film festival of blockbusters by the titan American director Steven Spielberg, will run from Friday, August 30 through Thursday, September 12 at Film Forum.
The series includes such summer classics as the benchmark blockbuster thriller JAWS, nine-time Oscar nominated sci-fi fable E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL, and the groundbreaking man vs. nature theme park parable JURASSIC PARK – all in 35mm.
Spielberg’s theatrical feature directorial debut THE SUGARLAND EXPRESS, starring Goldie Hawn, and the first collaboration with composer John Williams, who has scored all but five of Spielberg's films since, will run in new 4K restoration.
RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, winner of 5 Academy Awards and the first Lucas-Spielberg collaboration, the next two beloved INDIANA JONES movies, cat-and-mouse sleeper-hit DUEL (Spielberg’s made-for-TV debut), monumental Holocaust drama SCHINDLER’S LIST, epic WWII masterpiece SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND, A.I.
