Fashion Mistakes You're Probably Making

Not Tucking in Your Shirt

If your items are not tailored then tucking in your top can be a fantastic way for you to define your body shape. What it comes down to here is the rule of thirds. This is a very popular concept and it is a great way for you to ensure that your fashion journey is on point. Unless you are wearing some very tight bottoms, such as if the fabric of your shirt may bunch up, you may need to try and do something about that. With that point said, you need to tuck in your shirt as it will look better most of the time. This is a very small change but it will make your outfit look way better.

Following the Rules

Another big fashion mistake is avoiding mixing certain colors because you are trying to follow the rules. A lot of people may tell you that you should not mix certain colors or patterns, such as black and brown. This is a major mistake and one you should certainly avoid if possible. When it comes to mixing patterns, make sure that you at least have a common color. The key lies in you having a common theme. If you have a striped jacket that is navy and you have a blue shirt that is polka dot and blue then you can mix this, just make sure that you don’t throw in a conflicting color like red.

Under-Dressing

Another major mistake that so many people make is under-dressing. There is nothing worse than showing up for a big event and then coming to the conclusion that you should have gone for a dress over jeans. If you do this then you will soon find that things end up working against you. It is far better for you to show up looking polished and elegant than it is for you to try and go for something too casual. If you can do this then you are bound to stand out, and in a very good way too.

Ignoring the Instructions

If you ignore the wash instructions on your laundry then this is another critical mistake. When it comes to caring for your clothes, one of the biggest mistakes you may make is simply not reading the tag. You need to take note of whether something is dry-clean only or whether you have to hand wash it. If you can stick with the label and if you can make sure that you are always making the most out of what you have then this will help you overall. Of course, some of your clothing items may come with very specific instructions and although it can be difficult for you to stick with things like this, you do need to try and make the effort. If you don’t then you may find that you end up ruining your clothes when all of this could have been avoided from the start.

Hanging Sweaters

Hanging your sweaters is another critical mistake. If you put your sweater onto the hanger then this can cause it to stretch out over time and it may even lose its shape. If you do this then you may find that you end up having to replace your jumper over time when in reality all of this could have been avoided. If you want to help yourself here then at least make sure that you hang them over the bar of the hanger rather than putting them on the hanger. If you do this then you will soon find that it is easier for you to get the result you want out of your fashion items without having to worry about slowly ruining them over time.

Not Storing Your Clothes

Another mistake that a lot of people make is not storing clothes in the right way. If you are starting to pack away your summer and spring clothes then you may find that come next year, they just don’t look as good as they once did. If you want to do something about this then make sure that you take the time to store them properly. Seal them in bags and make sure that no air can get to them or at least make sure that they are in a location that is free from any harsh sunlight. If you can do this then you will notice a huge improvement in how long your clothes last.

Not Accessorizing

If you want to get the best result out of your fashion journey then at least make sure that you are doing your bit to accessorize. It may be that you try to use stylish crossbody bags as a way to bring your outfit together or that you add some jewelry. If you do this then you will soon find that your outfit comes together. Believe it or not, things like this can make a major difference to your outfit and it can also make it easier for you to have a bit more confidence moving forward too.

Washing too Much

Another huge blunder would be washing your clothes too much. If you wash your clothes all the time then you may find that you end up wearing them out and this is the last thing you want. One way for you to work around this would be for you to try and wash them as soon as they are either visibly dirty or if they smell. If this is the case then you will want to make sure that you use a mild detergent. If you put in too much detergent or if you try to overdo it with things because you want your clothes to smell better then this will also take its toll and it will make your clothes wear out faster too.

Not Using Stain Removal Pens

If you have spilt red wine on your favorite top or if you know that you are constantly spilling food over yourself then you need to do something about this. You may think that the only solution here is for you to wash your clothes, and although that is right, you are probably forgetting about a very good solution. Stain removal pens can be incredibly useful and when you do use them to your advantage, you will notice a huge difference in how your clothes look and feel. Your stain removal pen should be coming with you wherever you go, and most of the time you get a few in a pack too, so you can leave one at home or one at work. These pens get to work very quickly and when you do give them a go, you will see that they can remove most stains in just a few seconds. This is a fantastic way for you to get the result you want and in a very short space of time, so try and keep that in mind if you can, as they can be a very valuable way to keep your clothes looking great.
