What are the new collections you have for 2022?

For Fall 2022 we have a line extension of our Blessing Collection named Wisdom which is a delicious blend of blackberry, black currant, spiced rum, clove, and tobacco leaf. Also, we have a new seasonal launch, Fall Pumpkin Pecan Latte which is a rich, warm, and decadent experience.

How often should a person get a haircut?

I usually recommend a haircut every few months, of course if you use bleach or hot tools on your hair which can lead to additional breakage and split ends, I would recommend every 6 weeks.

How often should a person color their hair?

This all depends on what you are trying to achieve. Personally, I love creating color/dimension which is super forgiving and can be lived in for a long period of time that only requires retouches/refreshes every 3-4 months.

What's your favorite product that you have created?

OMG, that would be like asking which is my favorite angel, Bella or Riley. What I am most proud of is the creation of my revolutionary Cleansing Conditioner. It changed the way people worldwide perceived traditional shampoos and conditioners, and shifted to a whole new mindset.

What makes Chaz Dean products special and stand out from the rest?

I truly believe that what you put onto your body is just as important as what you put into your body. So I wanted to create a line of products that nourishes with natural botanicals, oils and extracts that help create beautiful, healthy-looking hair & skin. Our products have always been cruelty free from the beginning, they do not contain any animal by-products, nor do we do any animal testing.

How did you get started as an entrepreneur?

The owners of the salon I was working at asked if I would be interested in purchasing it, which was the best decision of my lifetime. On May 1st 1993, I opened Chaz Dean Studio and decided to give up lather because of witnessing all the damage it had caused throughout my career. Color fading, dry, damaged, stripped hair. Though removing lather was a radical concept at the time, my Cleansing Conditioner (the breakthrough concept of a universal 5-in-1 product that acts as a shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, detangler, and leave-in conditioner). This quickly took off when clients began to see healthy, shiny hair they’ve always dreamt of. I officially launched Wen by Chaz Dean in November 2000.

What's your favorite product that you have?

Aside from Cleansing Conditioner, the product I use every week is my Bella Spirit Self Tanning Bronzing Mist. My skin is extremely fair and I was using different brands and types of self tanning products that I was never satisfied with, so I decided to develop my own. This bronzing mist gives me a beautiful healthy, natural glow year-round without the orange look or that spray tan smell.

What can someone expect from visiting your salon?

When you walk in, you are transported into a sanctuary of several 1921 craftsman style bungalows, with fountains and luscious plants creating a peaceful oasis, tucked in the heart of Hollywood giving you a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of LA life.

What's your own hair routine like?

Before I launch any product I personally test everything on myself, but my go-to selects are Botanical Hair and Scalp Tonic every night which help encourages fuller, thicker, stronger, healthier hair growth.

What products do you use on yourself?

Every morning I cleanse with a mixture of 319 Fragrance-Free Cleansing Conditioner, Bella Spirit Indigo Toning Cleansing Conditioner and one of my current favorite seasonal Cleansing Conditioner at the moment, which I also use as a leave in conditioner, followed by Wen Styling Creme, Nourishing Mousse and I let my hair air-dry 90% of the time.
