Jade Pettyjohn on being a Young Hollywood Actress

How did you get started in entertainment?

Thank you! And yes, my parents are very supportive. I’ve been acting for about eight years now, and it started with me wanting to have some fun, and the more I did it, the more I fell in love with the art form.

What's the best thing about being an actress? Who is your favorite actress or actor?

My absolute favorite thing about being an actress is creating characters and telling stories that in some way make an impact. I love going to the movies and watching actors and actresses like Brie Larson or Leonardo DiCaprio, and leaving the movies feeling something...you know what I mean?

Who do you admire and get inspired by?

Emma Stone and Brie Larson are two women I admire so much! They are beautiful artists, but I think I get inspired most by people in general. So, human beings inspire me!

Do you have any sisters or brothers? If so, are they in the business?

I don’t know if my dogs count as siblings. If they do, then I think they have a good chance of becoming Instagram famous. If not, then I guess I'm considered the only child ;-)

What is your all-time favorite movie or TV show? Why?

Such a tough question. Lately, I have been obsessed with “The Flash”… (I may have a small GIGANTIC crush on Grant Gustin). As far as movies go I love “500 Days of Summer,” “Whiplash,” “Dead Poets Society”…. ahh the list goes on and on!

How often do you get to just be a kid?

All the time. I’m just doing what I love.

Any other latest projects coming up in addition to "School of Rock"?

I have an independent film called “Girl Flu” hitting the film festivals soon, which I loved shooting. I also launched a YouTube series called Jade’s Jukebox. That has been a blast.

Do you have any hidden talents? If so, what are they besides being a very good actress?

Some people may confuse me with my character Summer on “School of Rock,” but I do play the guitar and sing. Another hidden talent that many don't know about me is that I can say my ABC’s backward, just as fast as forward.
