Athanasiou Brings A Collection of Sex & ReligionSep 12, 2018
Athanasiou, known for their eccentric, artistic runways, showed guests once again that the label is far from ordinary with their Spring/Summer 2019 presentation of “Amore!” at the Mulberry during New York Fashion Week with a collection that exuded sex and religion. Infamous porn star Ron Jeremy walked the runway and closed the show...YES...you read that right, THE Ron Jeremy. “Amore!“ is a deep dive into the world of late 70's Glam with a hint of 90's soft porn, offering clean and strong silhouettes that secretly exude sex appeal and kinkiness. High quality materials are used for each garment and the designer’s own motifs are printed on fabric. Quality is of utmost importance, working among other things with handcrafted accessories made of silver such as the collection’s bracelets with insects. In Athanasiou’s Spring/Summer 2019 collection the designer had dresses, blazers, robes, and more were adorned with modern day interpretations of the Sistine Chapel featuring some of fashion’s most unique and fresh-faced models including Shawn Ross and Melanie Gaydos. Also seen coming down the runway were garments with a vintage aesthetic along with vest and risqué wordy tees with writing saying “You can’t get in my pants if you don’t love Jesus” and “I shaved my balls for this?” for a fun nod to the sexy theme. The finale walk commenced and the final model emerged from the backstage, Ron Jeremy walked out to close the show, and the crowd went wild with excitement.
